Self-Portrait Reflection:

My self-portrait portrays cheerfulness and happiness. I used colors that were true to the picture because I wanted to keep it simple and let my facial expression speak for itself. My mouth is wide open indicating happiness and cheerfulness. I am generally a happy and upbeat person and I feel like this picture perfectly describes that. My portrait conveys the message that you should stay carefree and happy no matter what.

One artist that I think conveys the same message as me is Berthe Morisot. She was an Impressionist artist who painted a lot of portraits during her time. One painting that I found similar to mine was called Girl with Greyhound. She conveyed the carefree and happiness message similar to mine with neutral colors and her light facial expression. The girl in the picture didn’t seem to care what was going on around her, which is what I tried to portray in my self-portrait. She also had a dog in the picture which indicated the girl’s happiness. We both used colors similar to the real picture. Morisot used many lines, whereas I used more basic shapes to create my artwork.
